The good thing is that although you find it hard to wake up much earlier in the morning than you usually do, you can educate your body to do it. It gets even better because after a period in which you’ll wake earlier in the morning, waking earlier in the morning will seem easier, gradually, and will eventually become something normal. To succeed you need to change a few of your daily habits. Here are some tips on how to become a morning person.

Go to bed before midnight

While it is a common-sense fact that if you go to bed earlier, you’ll wake up easier in the next morning, it won’t happen to you. In fact, you do anything else than to sleep because you want to prolong your day, somehow doing some activities such as watching TV, even if there’s nothing interesting, or wasting time on social networks. This program is not relaxing you as it might seem because in fact will only make you tired.

Therefore, the first step on how to become a morning person is to get enough sleep, and that means going to bed before 12 o’clock at night and don’t watch TV or browse on your smartphone, laptop, or tablet. Set your alarm to ring at the time you need to wake up

You think that if you set your alarm to ring with 30 minutes earlier and then use the snooze button every ten minutes, you’ll be able to wake up gradually, don’t you? Well, that’s not right!

Keep your phone in another room

This is a good idea not only because you’ll not hear your phone vibrating when someone calls you or getting notifications that you might receive overnight, but also because you have to get up in the morning and go to the phone to stop the alarm. This will help you to wake up more easily.

Set your alarm to ring at the same hour on every day

Try setting your phone’s alarm to ring at the same time every day, including the weekends.

Wake at the same time daily will help you to get used faster with your new waking up schedule.

Close the curtains

To fall asleep faster it is indicated that the bedroom to be in total darkness and that because darkness triggers the production of melatonin, which is a hormone that induces sleep. It might seem to be harder to get up in the morning because the sunlight won’t enter in your bedroom, but when the alarm rings try to force yourself to get out of bed and open the curtains, letting the sunlight into your room. It will be harder to go back to sleep!

Eat food that helps you sleep better

Eat foods that increase melatonin production during the day or even at dinner, or as small snacks after meals but not too close to bedtime. To stimulate melatonin production you can eat bananas, oats, barley, tomatoes, radishes, red wine, rice, or ginger.

You can also opt for foods high in tryptophan to sleep better. Tryptophan is a hormone that produces serotonin, which is another necessary hormone that confers a happy mood, and it is also linked to the production of melatonin.

Some examples of food that stimulates serotonin production are yogurt, soy, nuts, seafood, whole grains, sesame seeds, and sunflower seeds.

At dinner, avoid foods with lots of sugar and caffeine.

Physical activity

No matter which physical activity you choose to do, it will help you to wake up easier, experts say. Furthermore, studies show that 150 minutes of physical activity per week can help you to never feel sleepy during the day.

Make your plans for when you wake up

It’s important to make plans for some pleasant activities to do when you wake up. Whether you plan to meet a friend for coffee, either you plan to go to the gym, or you plan to do a Yoga meditation, a pleasant activity will be a good motivation to be a morning person!

At the same time, understand that nothing important happens at night. All important information and news occur during the day. However, no activity you can do after 22 o’clock can help you be more productive. Even if you read a book or watch TV, all you’ll do is to waste more energy.

Morning persons know how important it is to be awake in the morning because they can schedule all their days.

In ancient times, great leaders attacked opponents at dawn catching them unaware, unprepared, and sleeping. Obviously, the victory was irrefutable.

Could you run a company if you wake up in the noon? No, you could never do that.

Basically, companies leaders are morning persons who know the advantages of waking up in the early morning. They take full advantage of the morning to make the daily agenda, to set their goals and to take competitors by surprise.

You can have a great and productive day if you wake up between 5 and 6 o’clock when almost everyone sleeps. This way your day is much longer than others and will make you feel good.

Another advantage of becoming a morning person is that you’ll reduce the stress of hurrying up to school, college, or work. Waking up at 5 or 6 o’clock in the morning you’ll get plenty of time to eat, choose what clothes to wear, to take a shower, to do your morning physical exercises, or to do whatever you want.

Wake up in the early morning and you’ll work faster and you’ll be more productive. You’ll be ready to work smarter and to fulfill your tasks.

How to become a morning person is definitely an act of will but when putting in balance the advantages offered by waking up in the morning against the disadvantages of sleeping until noon it is clear that you should choose to become a morning person and now you know that is it possible to success in waking up in the morning and to be much more prepared for daily activities improving your productivity.

Sleeping from 22:30 to 5d or 6 o’clock is also a good thing for your health, reducing stress, repairing cells, and lowering the risks of depression or other mental disorders.
