Most women want to look younger and sexier, therefore an aesthetic or cosmetic surgery can be the solution. However, many cosmetic surgeries can go wrong, regardless of the reasons. Could be the doctors’ fault (malpractice) or the patients’ fault if not strictly following the pre-surgery and post-surgery recommendations. If you’re in the first situation, then I’m sure that the question that doesn’t give you peace is Can I complain about cosmetic surgery?

First of all, let’s see what are cosmetic surgeries and which are the reasons why a cosmetic surgery may go wrong.

What are cosmetic surgeries?

Aesthetic or cosmetic surgery includes:

  • Reconstructive surgery – Reconstructive surgery is typically used to improve the appearance of a mutilating scar, the appearance of the skin, parts of the body that have suffered malformations through trauma, surgical treatment, congenital illness, or defects from birth. These imperfections can have a strong impact on daily, social, employment, leisure, or self-esteem.
  • Selective surgical options – Individuals resort to aesthetic surgery if they are unhappy with the appearance of a part of their bodies, such as a large nose, small breasts, wrinkles, or undesirable fat tissues. These defects are not disturbing for most, but for some people, these are reasons for lowering respect and self-esteem. For them, cosmetic surgery is a method of treatment.

Non-surgical cosmetic procedures include those techniques that enhance physical appearance such as botox wrinkle removal, laser therapy to remove acne scars, or varicella sclerotherapy to reduce their visibility.

The risks of a cosmetic surgery

The decision to go for an esthetic surgery should not be taken lightly. Surgery always involves some risks. Also, complications may occur. There is no guarantee that the patient will have the desired results. The physician’s advice is essential to properly assess the risks and benefits of aesthetic surgery.

Although most aesthetic surgeries have low risk, no procedure is 100% safe. Risks may vary depending on the type of procedure and may range from mild scars to infections and even death.

Severe complications are rare, but they can occur.

By accepting an aesthetic surgery, it is possible for the patient to undergo the health of a useless risk.

That’s why it’s important to weigh the risks and benefits that the desired intervention can bring.
