You’ve probably seen ads for Garcinia Cambogia in magazines and online. Many of them include references to clinical trials, and some even mention Dr. Oz’s name to get your attention. But should you even open your wallet to buy Garcinia Cambogia? Is Garcinia Cambogia the best slimming aid? Next, I’ll present you some things you should consider before purchasing the product.
Clinical trials are not necessarily completely true
Many advertisements for Garcinia Cambogia slimming pills mention clinical trials that support their claims. But, almost none of them provide links or specific data about those studies.
You need to know that just because a company refers to medical research does not mean that legitimate clinical trials have been made by impartial scientists or that any of the studies have shown any weight loss effect that really matters to you.
In fact, many studies have been performed on lab mice or rats, and the few results that have been achieved on humans have yielded mixed results.
If you are looking for current studies published in a legitimate and widely accessible journal, pay attention to the study in Critical Reviews in Food Science and Nutrition. According to the researchers’ analysis, ‘there is still too little evidence to support the potential efficacy and long-term benefits of the extracts of Garcinia Cambogia’.
Does this mean that the product does not work?
No, but simply, it means that research proving its efficiency is inconclusive.
That is, there is no evidence that this product will help you get rid of extra fat or, to put it better, a Garcinia Cambogia weight loss supplement does not automatically guarantee miraculous results as promised by most companies that manufacture the product.
Many review articles on Garcinia Cambogia talk about its inefficiency
I searched on Google on ‘Garcinia Cambogia’ to find out what links are available for an interested consumer in buying the product.
I was pleasantly surprised to discover some links that led to respected websites, such as the WebHealthMD, on which, by the way, every possible buyer interested in Garcinia Cambogia can read a very objective and technical review of this slimming aid and learn about the advantages and disadvantages of Garcinia Cambogia, from the medical point of view.
On the other hand, other respected reviews sites claim that Garcinia Cambogia is worthless for weight loss diets, backing up their affirmations with the fact that there are no conclusive scientific studies. Which is true, as I’ve already mentioned above.
FDA does not control the production of supplements for weight loss
I visited few websites that sells Garcinia Cambogia slimming pills and I found that the majority of them includes an FDA logo on the front page.
In fact, that’s a lie because the FDA does not support or control the weight loss supplements. In fact, ‘it’s the dietary supplements company’s responsibility to make sure its products are safe and that what they say is true,’ said the FDA representatives.
Additionally, the FDA admits the fact that they only approve and control the medication, plants treatments, and the nutritional supplements that claim to heal one or more medical conditions or various diseases.
The FDA is NOT involved in controlling and approving supplements like weight loss supplements, energizing supplements, muscle mass supplements, breast/bottom/lips enlargement supplements, penis enlargement supplements, potency supplements, and so forth.
HCA is the active ingredient in Garcinia Cambogia
Over the centuries, South Indian people have used this fruit as a natural preservative, dyer, and for digestion problems. The Garcinia Cambogia extract has been used in ayurvedic medicine for many years. In South Asia, it is considered a beneficial food supplement during diets and intense activities.
How does it work?
The main acid contained in the Garcinia Cambogia fruit is hydroxycic acid (HCA) that acts, supposedly, as a very good anti-obesity agent, suppressing lipogenesis (producing lipids in the body) and helping burn fatty acids.
In addition, thanks to this acid (HCA), Garcinia Cambogia satisfies the body’s need for energy and improves the signaling system that the body uses to transmit the brain when it eats enough.
This response is often delayed for overweight people, causing them to eat more than they need.
At the same time, Garcinia Cambogia reduces cholesterol and triglyceride production and intensifies thermogenesis (caloric energy production), helping to burn fat. This reduces the accumulation of fat in the body and loss of excess weight.
In short, HCA has the following benefits:
- Reduces appetite and dietary intake
- Helps reduce lipids and burn fat
- Reduces body weight
- Lowers cholesterol
- Accelerates metabolism and fat burning
- Prevents accumulation of excess fats in the body
- Reduces the calorie conversion of carbohydrates and fats
- Favors weight loss
- Increases body performance and activity
- Stimulates lipid oxidation
- Reduces food intake by appearing satiety
- Inhibit an enzyme that is essential in regulating lipid metabolism
- Decreases acidity in the digestive tract
- It has a cardiac tonic action through the significant amount of vitamin C contained
- Enhances carbohydrate burning and thermogenesis
But how can HCA have so many beneficial effects in weight loss diets and the Garcinia Cambogia doesn’t?
Simply, all these benefits of HCA have been noted in small clinical studies on lab mice and rats, meaning that there is no scientifically proven clue of how HCA acts on humans. There is remaining only the ancient traditions of South Asian plant doctors that used HCA in slimming diets.
However, it seems that somehow the HCA is effective on humans, too, but is depending on the dosage.
There are some statistics that shows that people who consume HCA in high amounts, daily, have obtained the expected results, in comparison with those who only took the daily recommended dosage.
Moreover, any Garcinia Cambogia slimming aid is containing only a normal dosage of HCA, therefore the effectiveness of such pills might not be the desired one.
Additionally, HCA in high doses is risky, amplifying the side effects it has, which are:
- headache
- nausea
- dizziness
- dry mouth
- discomfort in the digestive tract
A more serious case has been recorded in the USA, in 2009. A HCA weight loss supplement that contained HCA in high concentrated dosage has been removed from the market.
That HCA supplement has been involved in one death and in numerous cases of jaundice and liver lesions.
Is Garcinia Cambogia the best slimming Aid?
If Garcinia Cambogia really had the potential that the producing companies talk about, scientific journals and other medical sources would have investigated and reported the level of efficacy.
I do not even want to make hasty conclusions and to say that Garcinia Cambogia would work or not, but I doubt there is any weight loss supplement to help you get rid of extra pounds without having a specific diet and a regular physical activity program, in parallel.
So that means that you should not buy Garcinia Cambogia?
No, the decision belongs to you – although I would not buy it. However, if you choose to invest in Garcinia Cambogia slimming pills, do not let yourself be fooled by what the producing companies claim or by their marketing strategies.
