What are vitamins?
Vitamins are organic substances needed by the body in moderate amounts for its optimal functioning. Since few of them are synthesized in the body, there’s needed a continuous intake of natural products to meet those needs. One study found that migraines can be reduced by intake of vitamin B6, B12, and folic acid supplements during a period of 6 months. The European Journal of Neurology conducted a study in 2004 which showed the same results, concluding that consumption of high doses of riboflavin may prevent migraine attacks.
Elevated levels of homocysteine can cause a dysfunction or a certain genetic mutation, which causes people to be prone to migraines. Vitamins B6 and B12 supplements can reduce homocysteine.
When it comes to kids, specialists explain that the genetic profile is of great importance to the optimal dose of vitamin B. However, other types of deficiency can also cause migraine attacks in kids. One study found that 42% of the kids patients who suffer from migraines had a deficiency of vitamin D.
Keeping in mind that some studies concluded that low vitamins levels may be linked to migraines in kids, you should take action now and give to your kid only healthy foods, especially raw fruits and vegetables. Of course, a dietary supplements base on vitamins should work, too.
