Erica, the talking android with perfect communication skills has been created and upgraded by Hiroshi Ishiguro of Osaka University, Japan. The researchers, that have created Erica as a 23 years old Japanese girl, have worked hard for improving her communication skills and natural expressions. Erica has been designed for the purpose of listening and communicating as a human being.
What are the skills that make Erica so human like?
First of all, the android Erica has been integrated multiple distance sensors, cameras for facial recognition, microphones, active listening and well improved responses.
Secondly, Erica would be just perfect for a desk job, replacing perfectly the humans. In addition to any other artificial intelligence, Erica is special not only thanks to her perfect communication and listening skills, but also thanks to her facial recognition technology, integrated sensors that allow her to recognize faces around the nearby places, and she is capable of perfectly moving her face, neck and shoulders.
Erica Vs. Sophia — Artificial intelligence
Sophia, the Hanson robotics creation that is considered to be the most intelligent robot and the first one who got citizenship in Saudi Arabia. It is designed with 3D cameras incorporated into her eyes, cameras that are able to see and a processor that makes her use facial gestures, speech recognition and fast responses.
Erica’s father, Ishiguro, considers her the “most beautiful and intelligent android in the world”. He used the images of 30 from the most beautiful women in the world to create a combination of features that should make everyone fell in love with her.
Erica is considered to be Sophia’s Japanese version, being realized in April. Robots have become very advanced nowadays and artificial intelligence is developing into using human brain capacities.
Japan have proved a wonderful acceptance of the robots, and some of the biggest Japanese companies such as Mitsubishi, started employing humanoid robots to deal with customers. Important hotel chains, theme parks, and banks have added robots into their lists of human employees. This interaction between human and androids is a warning about what the future holds.
