Everybody likes a grilled chicken breast or wings and any other type of meat that can be put on the grill and cooked at a low fire. But meat isn’t the only thing that can be cooked on the grill, you can also add something else to the table: grilled salads. As insane as it sound, yes, grilled salads are a yummy and healthy type of food that you can enjoy, mostly because the grill makes wonders not only with meats, but also with fruits, and veggies and even sturdy lettuces, if you like. But you have to know some useful tips if you want your salads to be extraordinary!
Here is everything you want to know about the perfect grilled salads!
First, make sure to choose the right and the best vegetables for the grill. In a nutshell, you can roast any vegetable you please, from onions and peppers, to potatoes, eggplants, asparagus and fennel, but think about what vegetables do you like most and what would you like to eat in that day.
Get organized beforehand. This means that before you put the vegetables or fruits on the grill, you also have to have all the necessary ingredients for the baking sheets, if you want to transport them in safety to the grill. You will also need tongs, a clean plate for the cooked meal and a kitchen timer to know exactly when your salads will be ready.
Don’t forget to oil up the things! If you don’t want your vegetables to stick, oil a small paper towel and take it within the tongs, and afterwards, rub the preheated grill rack. This option is better than a cooking spray sprinkled on a hot grill. Also, not only the grill needs to be rubbed in oil, but also the veggies. Toss them all in oil so that they will brown nicely and this thing will prevent them from drying out.
Do not burn the vegetables. For example, a denser vegetable such as the potato will take a longer period of time to cook properly. You will want to grill the slices until they are marked on the both sides, and only afterwards you should reduce the heat. If you please, you can also move the potatoes on the cooler side of the grill, until they will be cooked nice and slowly.

Use the skewers. If you have smaller veggies or fruits, such as tomatoes, it is best to use the skewers if you want to prevent them falling through the grill’s grates.
A grill basket will be perfect for the small veggies as well. Toss the mushrooms and the onion slices into the basket and every once in a while, you can stir them until they are nicely done.
